Two years ago on this date I started a project where I wanted to share a sound with those who wanted to listen. To make a podcast where it was all music and no talk. With tracks and playlists that you could listen to over and over again and still stay inspired.
KMD helped with the moniker and my Hip Hop memories did the rest. Nitty Gritty Radio was born.
Big shout out to the over 36,000 subscribers around the world for being down with the podcast!! I learned early on while doing this to do every episode like it could be your last. Never save a track for next time. If you feel it, play it when you do.
I can't tell you how many more episodes I have left in me but I can tell you that as long as I'm inspired and breathing a new episode of Nitty Gritty Radio WILL come out on the first Tuesday of every month!! That's my word!!
Now to celebrate the 2 yr anniversary and all this warm weather we've been having in NYC I decided to do a bonus episode off all tracks that remind me of summertime's past.
We did the same thing back in Aug '09 on Episode 9 and called it the "Summer Sessions".
This time around I'm still using summer memories as inspiration but giving a slight twist on the vibe. A lot of artist like Esthero, Jamiroquai and Morcheeba really don't get too much run on the show. So I wanted to shine some light in that direction and still give y'all artist that you would normally hear on the podcast. After hearing this mix a few times over I think its definitely one that you can play all summer long.
